The WestView PCN offers these classes to help you manage your health and reach your wellbeing goals.

Nutrition 

Our registered dietitians facilitate informative and interactive education sessions that provide patients with information, peer support, and practical nutrition and food-related skill development opportunities. Group education sessions are available in-person and virtually. 

 

Master Your Meals

Simple and practical strategies to plan and prepare tasty and nutritious meals for the whole
family. Recipe and other resources will be available for participants to take home.

 

 

Balancing Blood Sugar – A Guide to Living Well with Diabetes 

Whether you've recently been diagnosed with diabetes (or prediabetes), or if it has been many
years, this class has something for everyone. Learn practical tips for daily habits to help keep
blood sugars in check.

Make it Mediterranean

Following a Mediterranean style diet can benefit health in many ways including
improvements in heart health, blood sugars, and more. This class covers key components of
a Mediterranean diet and practical tips to help incorporate this style of eating.

Grocery Store Tour

In-person, in-store tours; topics covered include how to read a food label, shop well on a budget, make
choices to help manage a specific health condition, and more.

 

Finding Your Best Weight

Achieving your Best Weight is less about a specific number and more about living the
healthiest life you can truly enjoy. This class uses an evidence-based approach to help
participants understand the root causes of weight gain, including factors beyond diet and
exercise, and key strategies to support sustainable, long-lasting change

Obesity Clinic Nutrition Series   

Six-session series of interactive group nutrition classes aimed at improving overall nutrition knowledge, healthy eating habits and patterns, and developing key strategies to achieve and maintain one’s Best Weight. Patients are encouraged to attend all six sessions and can start during any week as the classes repeat every six sessions.

Description of Each Session 

SESSION 1: Ingredients for Success

How and what we eat is complex. Each person has a unique story based on their genetics, learned behaviors, experiences and environment. Understanding what influences your personal food decisions is the cornerstone to making simple, sustainable choices that will lead to long-lasting change. 

SESSION 2: High Impact Habits

Big sweeping lifestyle changes are often impossible to keep up. Rather than a complete overhaul, learn how focusing on 5 key habits can get you started in the right direction.

SESSION 3: The Nitty-Gritty of Nutrition

Food information is everywhere. This class peels back the labels' layers and digs into what you need to know on a nutrition label and how key nutrients affect your health.

SESSION 4: Finding the Sweet Spot

All foods fit. Indulgences are a part of healthy and happy eating. Explore how to enjoy treats and special occasions while still honoring your health goals.

SESSION 5: Plan, Prepare, Enjoy!

You know what to do. But how do you do it? We cover how important food skills like meal planning, prepping, and cooking keep you on the right track. 

SESSION 6: Recipe for Lasting Change

Healthy eating starts at the grocery store. Discuss the best choices at the grocery store to help you save time, eat well and save money. This session finishes with a summary of resoures and tips to help you maintain your goals and set you up for lasting success.

Heart Smart Habits

This class will provide you with a greater understanding of what hypertension and dyslipidemia are, and what factors cause them, as well as effective ways to control and treat them. Learn how your diet and medication work to lower your blood pressure and cholesterol to improve your Heart Health.
