Nutrition

Registered dietitians are uniquely trained to advise on food and nutrition for the prevention and management of nutrition-related health concerns.

Our registered dietitians provide free individual nutrition assessments, counseling, support, and education for adults and children > 2 years old connected with a WestView Primary Care Network Physician or Nurse Practitioner. 

Dietitians can help you: 

  • Prevent or manage chronic health conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol or high blood pressure
  • Manage digestive issues such as IBS, Crohn’s Disease, acid reflux and constipation
  • Optimize nutrition across the lifespan, from childhood to older age
  • Learn healthy eating skills like label reading, meal planning and grocery shopping on a budget
  • Meet nutrition needs on a vegetarian or vegan diet
  • Achieve individual health and lifestyle goals 
  • Build or restore a healthy relationship with food

Group Education Classes

Our registered dietitians facilitate informative and interactive education sessions that provide adult patients with information, peer support, and practical nutrition and food-related skill development opportunities. Busy schedules and everyday demands can make preparing nutritious meals at home challenging. However, with some simple steps and practical strategies, it can be quick and easy to assemble tasty and nutritious meals that the whole family will enjoy. Join our registered dietitians to learn how to plan and prepare meals that will save you time, money and stress while helping you reach your healthy eating goals.

Balancing Blood Sugar – A Guide to Living Well with Diabetes 

Whether you've recently been diagnosed with diabetes (or prediabetes), or if it's been many years, this class has something for everyone. Learn why blood sugars are rising, recommendations on monitoring, long-term impacts of chronically high blood sugars, and practical suggestions for daily habits to help keep blood sugars in check.  Participants are encouraged to come with questions to discuss and will have the opportunity to go home with handouts/resources to help going forward.

Healthy eating starts at the grocery store. But with so many options, it can be hard to know how to make the best choices for you and your family. If you want to learn important skills like how to read a food label, shop well on a budget or make changes to manage a specific health condition, our in-store tours can help you sort the whole wheat from the chaff. Join our registered dietitians as they show you how to navigate the aisles to best meet your healthy eating goals in a fun and interactive environment.
