National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Every year on September 30, people across Canada come together for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a day to remember the legacy of residential schools and to honour the strength of Survivors, their loved ones, and their communities.

How Canadians Can Participate

  • Wear orange to raise awareness and honour Survivors.
  • Learn about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools.
  • Listen to Survivors’ stories and reflect on the truth of Canada’s past.
  • Support Indigenous-led organizations and initiatives in your community.

Moving Forward Together

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is more than a day of reflection—it is a call to action. Reconciliation requires ongoing learning, listening, and meaningful steps toward equity and justice for Indigenous Peoples. On September 30, and every day, Canadians are encouraged to take part in this journey.
