Alzheimer's Awareness Month: Towards a Dementia-Friendly Community

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for 60-80% of all diagnoses. Alzheimer's is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that destroys brain cells, causing thinking ability and memory to deteriorate over time. Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging and is irreversible. In this article, we highlight a campaign that aims at fostering a dementia-friendly community in Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, and Parkland County. Women's Heart Health Awareness

Women experience heart disease differently and still suffer from inequality and inequity in relation to cardiovascular health. According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC), “two-thirds of all heart disease and stroke clinical research has focused on men.”
