Physician Practice Improvement Program (PPIP)

What is the Physician Practice Improvement Program (PPIP)?

PPIP was launched by CPSA on January 1, 2021 to fulfill its legislated mandate of ensuring competence within the profession. All of CPSA’s regulated members must participate in PPIP.

Practice Improvement Projects

This program requires each member to complete three practice improvement projects within 5 years:

1.   A practice-driven quality improvement activity using objective data

2.   A CPSA’S Standards of Practice quality improvement activity as a benchmark to identify opportunities for improvement

3.   A Personal Development activity (requires facilitation)

When Do I Need to Complete These Projects By?

PPIP was introduced in 2021, and CPSA has, once again, changed the due date to reflect your CPD cycle. For those physicians unable to complete them in this time frame, the CPSA states they will do their best to work with them to provide any support needed to meet the PPIP expectations.

How We Can Help

The WestView PCN Quality Improvement Team is here to help you complete your PPIP projects as easily and effectively as possible.  Please click on the links to each of the three project requirements.  There you will find out more about each activity and some sample project ideas including Action Plans. We are putting together a collection of completed PPIP projects for other physicians to use so please send your completed project information to us for this database.  This should allow physicians to learn from each other what a good PPIP project might be and give each other ideas.

For WestView PCN Physicians

Novmber is PPIP month! The Quality Improvement Team will host sessions (based on volume of member interest), or meet with members indivdually. Learn the PPIP process and complete a large portion of all three PPIP projects.  Follow-up support is available for members who engage in the sessions to help complete PPIP projects.

Reporting

When you fill out your RIF, CPSA will ask if you have started or completed your PPIP, click “Agree”. This information is collected to track the number of people actively working / completed their PPIPs.
